G'day. I have been searching for these bloody lyrics in over a fecking year. I can barely remember fragments of lines. Basically, it is a song to an occupying soldier asking what lies they were told...and shit like that...the last lines are leave your british guns and leave us all alone....or something along those lines.....I am hoping that some one has an idea what I am speaking about....if not I will have to try and listen to the song again with more correct words.

It must be, if the subject is still continued (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I know! No matter there is hot or cold, a soldier must stand at his position. LOL, so I leave for a while and found my lyrics request to have gone into a discussion about many things...but the song itself...
I wish I knew who did it, but I do not....I will try and get some lyrics from the song, if I hear it again, and hope some one knows what I am talking about. I do not even know if the song is called"Soldier Boy", however since that is the refrain the singer sings, then I assume that is the title of the song. |

When you look for lyrics you should always start from Triskelle web site, it is very rich source of songs and information about them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks Fionn. I'm honoured! |

It's called Soldier Boy and it was written by a former POW from Strabane named Terry Boyle. It's on his album, At Your Pleasue, which he wrote in Long Kesh.
I know your watching from behind your ring of steel I wonder do you wonder How these people feel A look of innocence Still on your teenage face How long before you start To kill and start to hate Soldier boy, soldier boy soldier boy Did they bring uniforms And picturesto your school Make a romanticised Professional of you You're indestructible You heard that bugger say That's why you're living In a bunker everyday Soldier boy, soldier boy, soldier boy How did your father look When you were goin' away Is he a working man On unemployment pay You say your mother Is dependin' on you then What will she do If they don't bring you home again Soldier boy, soldier boy, soldier boy You know you'll soon regret The day they sent you here You'll never learn to take The bitterness and fear Each day your officers Will put you on the line Will they be with you When some bullet breaks your spine Oh boy, soldier boy, soldier boy Your callous war machine Is grinding people down You'll find no welcome In the cities or the towns, When will you realise This country's not your own Pack up your foreign guns And leave us all alone Soldier boy, soldier boy, soldier boy Soldier boy, soldier boy, soldier boy |
