QUOTE(jahbulon @ Feb 28 2004, 05:09 PM)
This is a great song - one of my favorites.  I have two or three versions of it - the best one in my opinion is by Athenrye.  However, I've yet to come across a studio version of this song.  I think a band could have a lot of fun making a recording of this song in a studio by adding sound effects of the missles firing, exploding, and so on.

The Irish Brigade performed the only studio version (since they wrote it). It's available on The Irish Brigade volume 5.

Chorus: Tiocfaidh r l, our day will come
Our glorious day, for Erin`s fighting sons
The day will come, we will be free
Tiocfaidh r l, the dawn of liberty.

It's been a long 800 years
Of British scorn and Irish tears
And only freedom will suffice
We've made too long a sacrifice

And those who hold the power today
A full account you'll have to pay
To those held down by unjust laws
Because they love our freedom's cause

And those who make the prisons hell
Who hold the keys and lock the cells
Your time will come, it's long due
We'll have our chance to turn the screw

Pearse was a much loved and much missed friend of mine. His parents are still fighting for an inquest into his death. They've yet to be officially informed (yes, this far on) of his death by the police.

Oh, for heavens sakes.

The first song IS NOT BY EIRE OG!!! My father, a member of the Irish Brigade, wrote The Loughall Martyrs. I was in the room when he did.

Eire Og repeatedly steal/claim copyright from my father's band, THE IRISH BRIGADE, and from my mother, who is credited as McNally on all Irish Brigade albums for which she wrote songs.

In fact, Eire Og steal and claim copyright from many others too. I'm getting fed up with having to constantly correct this.

Simply put: Eire Og write songs along the lines of "Go on home British Bastards" (although, that's probably stolen too). When it comes to beautiful, moving ballads, like those written by the various members of the Irish Brigade, I can assure you they've stolen them.

They even claimed that they wrote "The Ballad of Pearse Jordan"...having never met the guy.

I was brought up with Pearse. His parents are (and have been for more than 25 years) close friends of my parents.

This is my first look here in ages... I wonder how many more songs Eire Og are claiming as their own?
